and is approaching completion.

Anglo-Chinese Schools giving

instruction up to Standard III have been substituted for

Vernacular Schools at Tang Lung Chau and Aberdeen.

In view of the application for

admission to Queen's College being considerably in excess

of the numbers that can be accommodated there, arrangements

are being made for gradually doing away with its prepara-

-tory classes there (VII and VIII) and extending the

secondary education given. At the same time it is intended

to make the three principal Anglo-Chinese Schools, which

are conveniently situated on the East and West of Victoria

schools for the Central College.

In accordance with my Despatch

No. 6 of the 13th. January, 1905, Hygiene has been intro-

-duced as a subject of instruction in all the Government

and in some of the assisted schools and an examination in

it will be held in December next.
